LeBron James scored 18 points for the United States, who hit seven of its first 10 attempts from 3points line. Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony each finished with 16 points.
Felipe Reyes scored 19 points while Pau Gasol scored 13 points for Spain.
The Americans will face in the quarterfinals either Australia or Croatia, the No. 4 team from Group A.
