Manny Pacquiao Vs Oscar De La Hoya: Mega Event
It is finally on and official, the mega-event from Las Vegas on december 06 2008 between the pound-for-pound champion, Filipino figther from General Santos City Philippines, Manny "pacman" Paquiao and the legendary 10-time world champion, mexican american boxer "The Golden Boy" Oscar De La Hoya.
The fight will be formally launched on october 1 from the Statue of Liberty in New York.
According to Top Rank promoter Bob Arum, the launching of the historic battle between Oscar De La Hoya and pound for pound champion Manny Pacquiao in the Statue of Liberty is just the first of the promotional tour series in the five big cities of the United States.
Two of this cities are Los Angeles and San Francisco, were there are big Filipino communities.
Both Pacquiao and De La Hoya will be present in the promotional tour.
Trainer Freddie Roach, but not giving any exact numbers said in one of his interview that it's a 65-35 split in the revenue.
"There was a give-and- take, otherwise it wouldn’t have taken this long." said Top Rank promoter Bob Arum
Arum also said that the Floyd Mayweather-De la Hoya fight gained over $100-M but it is possible that the De La Hoya-Pacquiao fight will surpassed it because of this mega-fight.
The De La Hoya-Mayweather showdown were both Americans who were fighting, while the De La Hoya-Pacquiao match-up is a fight between the Asian against America with mexico, Arum added.

This should be a great fight. Pacquiao is on a high right now, and Oscar will have to really step up and go to work here.
